How much does a rebrand cost in Ghana, and when is a refresh enough?

By Tribal House Published 11 min read

The short answer

A rebrand in Ghana costs from GHS 2,000 in design fees for a refresh to GHS 30,000 or more for a full rebrand, before rollout. SokoJob prices brand systems at GHS 2,000 to 8,000, and Kashgain puts senior freelance projects at GHS 10,000 to 30,000. A rename adds GHS 529 at the Registrar of Companies, US$615 in official trademark fees for one application, and new signs, vehicle graphics, packaging, uniforms and stationery.

A rebrand quote in Ghana can cover a new colour palette or a new company name, and the gap between those two jobs runs into tens of thousands of cedis. Owners plan for the design fee. The rollout, from the shop sign to the delivery cars, is the part that breaks the budget.

Tribal House is a brand and web studio in Accra. Design fees come from SokoJob, Kashgain, Faciotech and Clutch, and filing fees from the Office of the Registrar of Companies (ORC) and two Legalstone Solicitors guides on Mondaq. We checked every figure on 18 October 2026. Our prices come last.

How much does a rebrand cost in Ghana?

Design fees for a rebrand in Ghana run from GHS 2,000 for a refresh to GHS 30,000 or more for a full rebrand from a senior designer, and agencies on Clutch quote minimum projects from US$1,000. A rename adds legal fees: GHS 529 at the ORC for a company and US$615 for one trademark application.

Kashgain's ranges, dated 31 January 2025, cover graphic design projects in general. Clutch lists 20 Ghana branding firms, updated 17 October 2026, with rate bands per hour from under US$25 to US$100 to US$149. The full fee tables sit in our guides to brand identity design cost and logo design cost.

What separates a brand refresh, a rebrand and a rename?

A refresh keeps the name and the core mark and tidies everything around them. A rebrand replaces the visual identity, and often the positioning, while the registered name stays. A rename changes the name itself, which brings in the registrar, the trademark registry, your contracts and every printed surface you own.

The tier sets the rollout bill more than the design fee does. A refresh can roll out as old stock runs down. A rename has a legal date that every sign and invoice must catch up with.

What does a brand refresh cost, and what does it change?

A refresh costs about GHS 2,000 to GHS 10,000 in design fees at published Ghanaian rates. SokoJob prices a brand system of logo, guidelines and colour palette at GHS 2,000 to 8,000, and Kashgain puts mid-level freelance projects at GHS 3,000 to 10,000. Expect redrawn logo details, a tighter palette, new type and updated templates.

  • Logo redraw: a clean vector master and a version for small screens.
  • Colour palette: fewer colours, with HEX, RGB and CMYK codes.
  • Typography: licensed typefaces for headings and text.
  • Templates: social posts, invoices, proposals and email signatures.
  • Short guidelines: clear space, minimum sizes and misuse examples.

A refresh keeps the recognition you have paid for, and staff keep their uniforms.

What does a full rebrand cost?

A full rebrand costs GHS 10,000 to GHS 30,000 per project at Kashgain's senior freelance rates, and Ghanaian branding agencies on Clutch set minimum projects from US$1,000 to US$10,000. The fee buys research, positioning, a new logo suite, colour, type, imagery rules, guidelines and templates for each channel the business uses.

Faciotech's store shows what single pieces cost. It lists a custom logo at GHS 4,081.32 with three concepts and two revision rounds, business card design at GHS 571.39 and letterhead design at GHS 1,749.14. Ask for a rebrand quote that names each application, then check the lines against prices like these.

What does renaming a business cost in Ghana?

A limited company pays the ORC GHS 529 to file a change of name by special resolution, according to the ORC's 2026 fee page. A registered business name pays GHS 75 to file Form D for a change in business name. A search of the register costs GHS 30 before you file.

Search in the companies register, excluding charges and insolvency30
Change of company name by special resolution529
Form D, change in ownership or business name75
Prestige or VIP service, additional fee for business name filings520

The ORC lists two documents for a company name change: a special resolution and a shareholders' resolution. Its pages give no processing time, so call the office before you fix a launch date. Then move your bank, tax, supplier and payment accounts to the new name, including the store accounts in our guide to e-commerce website cost in Ghana.

How much does trademark registration cost in Ghana?

Legalstone Solicitors lists official trademark fees of US$135 for an optional search, US$240 for the application and US$240 for the certificate: US$615 in total, or the cedi equivalent. Its two guides on Mondaq, from August 2024 and January 2025, place filing with the Trade Marks Registry of the Registrar-General's Department.

StepOfficial feeWhat Legalstone says
SearchUS$135Optional. The registry looks for identical or similar marks.
ApplicationUS$240Filed with copies of the mark
Publication and oppositionNo fee listedTwo months in the Industrial Trade Marks Bulletin for third parties to object
CertificateUS$240Valid for ten years from the date of application, renewable for ten years at a time

The two guides differ on classes. The January 2025 guide quotes L.I. 667 as limiting each application to goods in one class, while the step-by-step guide describes extra copies of the mark for each further class. Ask a trademark lawyer how many filings you need, and budget the lawyer's fee on top.

Legalstone says the fees follow the Fees and Charges Act, 2022 (Act 1080). Confirm the current schedule with the registry before you file.

Which rollout costs do Ghanaian owners forget?

Owners budget for the logo and forget the objects that carry it: shop signs, vehicle graphics, packaging, uniforms, stationery, the website and social handles. Accra printers and signwriters seldom publish fixed prices, so count each item, ask three suppliers for quotes and add the permit fees the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) charges.

The Ghanaian Times reported a penalty of 50% of the annual branding fee for vehicles without an AMA permit. The rates date from 2022, so ask the AMA for its current fee-fixing resolution.

Claim the new handle on every platform before the announcement, and keep the old accounts with a pointer to the new ones.

Products registered with the Food and Drugs Authority need extra lead time. FDA Ghana's registration page for medicines lists three months for a minor variation and six months for a major one. Ask the FDA whether new packaging counts as a variation for your product before you print.

For the site itself, our guide to website redesign in Accra covers redesign prices and redirects, and website maintenance cost in Ghana covers the upkeep after launch.

What does a rename cost for a shop with three delivery cars?

A limited company with one shop and three saloon delivery cars that renames through a senior freelancer pays GHS 16,158.67 to GHS 36,158.67 in the fees published sources let us price. Add US$615 in official trademark fees, the lawyer's fee and supplier quotes for the sign, the wraps, the uniforms and the print runs.

The stationery line adds GHS 571.39 + 1,749.14 + 1,749.14 = GHS 4,069.67. The permit line is 3 × GHS 510 = GHS 1,530, and the AMA charges it each year. The low subtotal is 10,000 + 4,069.67 + 30 + 529 + 1,530 = GHS 16,158.67. The high subtotal swaps in GHS 30,000 for design and reaches GHS 36,158.67.

A refresh of the same business drops the ORC and trademark lines and falls to SokoJob's GHS 2,000 to 8,000 design range.

How long does a rebrand take, week by week?

A rename runs on four overlapping tracks: design, legal filings, production and launch. Tribal House brand and website projects ship in four to eight weeks. Legalstone describes a two-month opposition window after a trademark is published, so the legal track starts in week one and runs past launch day.

The weeks are our planning sequence. The four-to-eight-week project length and the two-month opposition period come from published sources, and the rest depends on your suppliers. Ask each one for a lead time in writing.

When is a brand refresh enough?

A refresh is enough when customers recognise your name and mark, the business sells the same things to the same people, and the problems sit in execution: blurred files, clashing colours and dated type. A rebrand earns its cost once the offer, the audience or the name itself has changed.

Green felt panel with one cream patch re-stitched in orange thread, showing a refresh mends instead of replacing
  • Customers recall your name without help. Keep the name.
  • The logo blurs on phones or breaks up on signs. A redraw fixes it.
  • You sell the same offer to the same buyers. Refresh.
  • Your rollout budget cannot cover every sign and vehicle at once. Refresh now and schedule the rest.
  • You have merged, changed owners or moved into a new line of business. Consider a full rebrand.
  • The name is hard to say, spell or search, or a trademark search shows a conflict. Consider a rename.
  • You plan to sell in Nigeria. Read rebranding to expand from Ghana to Nigeria before you change anything.

If the first four lines describe your business and none of the last three do, start with a refresh.

What do recent Ghanaian rebrands show about scope?

Two telecom rebrands show the range. AirtelTigo became AT from 22 June 2023 and kept its brand colours, according to Graphic Online. Vodafone Ghana moved to the Telecel Ghana name in 2024, with a rollout that the Ghanaian Times said would start in January and end with a full brand reveal in late February.

AT's chief executive said the change would not affect management, products or services. The Telecel rename covered Vodafone Ghana and three subsidiaries, including Vodafone Cash. Neither report gives a cost, and we do not estimate one.

A small business can copy AT's approach. Change the name where the name must change, and keep the colours customers already recognise.

How can you lower the cost of a rebrand?

Cut rollout cost by phasing, and cut design cost with a tight brief. Switch the website and social accounts first, since they cost least to change. Replace printed stock as it runs out, and ask each supplier to quote removal, installation and permits in one figure so the totals compare.

  • Count before you brief. The designer plans for real sign sizes, vehicle models and label formats.
  • Keep what works. A colour customers name or a mark they recall saves money.
  • Print small runs first. Order three months of stationery until the templates settle.
  • Brief the brand and website together. One team avoids paying twice for the same decisions.
  • Keep the old domain. Redirect it so old links and printed addresses still work.

What does Tribal House charge for a rebrand?

Tribal House publishes its starting prices. Project sprints start at US$2,500 for one defined outcome. Brand and website projects start at US$6,000 and cover strategy, identity, website design, build, CMS setup and launch. Monthly retainers start at US$1,500 for ongoing design, development and motion.

We send a written scope after a 30-minute discovery call and invoice in three stages: 40% at kickoff, 40% during production and 20% at delivery. Brand and website projects ship in four to eight weeks, and each launch includes Loom walkthroughs, a CMS guide and a launch checklist. See our plans, projects and services, or book a call.

Frequently asked questions

Do I file anything with the Registrar of Companies if I only change my logo?
The ORC's 2026 fee page lists fees for name changes and none for logos. Protection for a new logo comes through a trademark filing, which Legalstone Solicitors puts at US$615 in official fees.
How much does it cost to change a registered business name in Ghana?
The ORC charges GHS 75 to file Form D for a change in business name and GHS 30 for a search of the business name register. A limited company pays GHS 529 to file a change of name by special resolution.
How long does a Ghana trademark stay valid?
Legalstone Solicitors says a registered mark is valid for ten years from the date of application and renews for further ten-year periods. A mark left unused for five years after registration can be cancelled.
Do I need a permit to brand company vehicles in Accra?
The Ghanaian Times reported in 2022 that the AMA requires branding permits, at GH¢510 for a saloon car, GH¢765 for a minibus and GH¢918 for a big bus. Ask the AMA for the current rates.
What should a small business budget for a brand refresh?
SokoJob prices a brand system of logo, guidelines and colour palette at GHS 2,000 to 8,000. Add reprints of signs, stationery and packaging, which you can phase as old stock runs out.
Should I change my social media handles when I rebrand?
Change them on launch day, after you have claimed the new handle on every platform. Keep the old accounts with a pointer to the new ones so tagged posts and saved links still reach you.
Does a rebrand need a new website?
A refresh needs the new logo, colours and type applied to the existing site. A rename needs a new domain and redirects from every old address, which a redesign plan should list page by page.
