When should you redesign your website, and what does it cost in Accra?
The short answer
A website redesign in Accra pays off when evidence points to it: failing Core Web Vitals on phones, a CMS your team cannot edit, falling enquiries or a rebrand the site does not show. Redesign prices published in Accra run from ₵3,500 to GHS 45,000, depending on scope.
Redesign prices published in Accra start near ₵3,500 for a small site at EnspireFX and reach GHS 45,000 for a full e-commerce replatform at Kolonell. Before you pay anyone, decide whether your site needs a refresh, a redesign or a rebuild, because each one has a different price and a different risk to your search traffic.
Tribal House is a brand and web design studio in Accra. This guide gives you the signs, the published prices and a redirect checklist drawn from Google Search Central. Our guides to website cost in Ghana and how long a website takes to build in Ghana cover new builds.
Which signs say a website redesign in Accra is due?
A website redesign in Accra should follow evidence: failing Core Web Vitals on phones, a CMS your team cannot edit, enquiries that fall while traffic holds, or a rebrand the site does not show. A dated look on a working site calls for a refresh, according to Webpop Design.
- Mobile fails Core Web Vitals. web.dev rates a page good at 2.5 seconds or less for Largest Contentful Paint, 200 milliseconds or less for Interaction to Next Paint and 0.1 or less for Cumulative Layout Shift, measured at the 75th percentile. Poor starts above 4,000 milliseconds, 500 milliseconds and 0.25. DataReportal counted 38.3 million mobile connections in Ghana in early 2025, equal to 110% of the population, so phone performance decides most visits.
- The CMS or theme fights your team. Webpop Design lists a CMS or theme that makes editing difficult, and outdated plugins, templates or workarounds, as redesign signs.
- Visitors arrive and enquiries do not. Webpop Design describes a site that draws visitors but produces few enquiries, bookings or sales. Compare enquiries per month before you decide.
- The brand has moved on. Webpop Design says a refresh fits when branding has evolved and the site has not caught up. A redesign fits when the brand, services or audience have changed a great deal.
- Navigation hides key pages. Webpop Design lists confusing navigation and hard-to-find pages as redesign signs.
- Checkout breaks. Kolonell, an agency that publishes Accra redesign prices, suggests rebuilding a broken Paystack checkout from scratch.
Ask your agency for the three Core Web Vitals numbers, measured on a phone and segmented by mobile and desktop, as web.dev recommends. Numbers beat opinions when you set scope.
Should you refresh, redesign or rebuild your website?
Refresh when the structure works and the look is dated. Redesign when navigation, mobile use or enquiries fail. Rebuild when the platform or code blocks the work. Webpop Design defines a refresh as a lighter update that keeps the platform, structure and URLs, and Kolonell says locked proprietary code points to a rebuild.
| Option | Choose it when | What changes | What stays | Published time and price (Kolonell, e-commerce) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Refresh | The site works but the design, imagery, copy or calls to action feel dated, or the brand has evolved | Visuals, copy and calls to action | Platform, structure and URLs | 1 to 2 weeks. GHS 6,000 to 11,000 |
| Redesign | Navigation is confusing, mobile use is weak, enquiries are low or the CMS makes editing hard | Layouts, navigation, content hierarchy and conversion paths | Domain, content that ranks, URLs where possible | 3 to 4 weeks for a standard UX and UI redesign. GHS 11,000 to 20,000 |
| Rebuild | Code is locked, the platform limits what you can add, or checkout needs rebuilding | Platform, templates and data migration | Brand, copy and each ranking URL, mapped by redirects | 6 to 8 weeks for a full replatform. GHS 30,000 to 45,000 |
The Kolonell figures describe online stores, so a brochure site sits lower. Treat the column as a ladder: each step costs more and touches more of the site, which raises the need for a redirect plan.
How much does a website redesign cost in Accra?
Published redesign prices in Accra run from ₵3,500 for a one-pager at EnspireFX to GHS 45,000 for a full e-commerce replatform at Kolonell. Kolonell says most small and medium businesses land between GHS 20,000 and GHS 30,000 for an e-commerce redesign. Brochure sites sit near the low end.
| Source | Scope | Published price | Published time |
|---|---|---|---|
| EnspireFX | One-pager, up to 3 pages | From ₵3,500 | Basic redesign: 1 to 2 weeks on average |
| EnspireFX | Startup site, up to 5 pages | From ₵4,500 | Basic redesign: 1 to 2 weeks on average |
| EnspireFX | SME site, up to 15 pages | From ₵5,500 | Varies with workload and complexity |
| EnspireFX | Pro e-commerce site, up to 25 pages | From ₵6,500 | Complex projects: 4 to 6 weeks |
| Kolonell | Light theme refresh, e-commerce | GHS 6,000 to 11,000 | 1 to 2 weeks |
| Kolonell | Standard UX and UI redesign, e-commerce | GHS 11,000 to 20,000 | 3 to 4 weeks |
| Kolonell | Redesign with Paystack checkout | GHS 20,000 to 30,000 | 4 to 6 weeks |
| Kolonell | Full replatform with migration, SEO and performance | GHS 30,000 to 45,000 | 6 to 8 weeks |
| Kolonell | Add-on modules such as a blog, multilingual support or ERP | Add GHS 3,000 to 9,000 per module | Not published |
| Tribal House | Project sprint, or brand and website engagement | From US$2,500, or from US$6,000 | Brand and website projects: 4 to 8 weeks |
Read the table with care. EnspireFX's own FAQ lists different starting prices (₵2,490 and ₵5,490) and says it prices each project on its own. Kolonell covers e-commerce stores, and these pages are vendor marketing. Ghana Web Designs lists new business sites at GHS 3,000 to GHS 7,000, so a redesign quote above the new-build price for the same scope needs an explanation.
Kolonell calls migration the hidden line item in a redesign quote. Ask each agency to price redirects, content migration and post-launch monitoring on separate lines.
What should you keep when you redesign a website?
Keep the URLs of pages that bring traffic, the content that earns enquiries, your domain and your analytics history. Google tells owners to map each old URL to a new one and use server-side permanent redirects when addresses change. Kolonell says a poor migration can cost months of visibility.
- Ranking URLs. Build the list from your sitemap, server logs, analytics, the Search Console links report and the CMS, as Google suggests. Keep each address that earns traffic.
- Titles, headings and descriptions. Google's mobile-first guidance asks for the same headings, titles and meta descriptions on mobile and desktop.
- Image alt text and structured data. Google asks for the same alt text and the same structured data on both versions.
- Pages that earn enquiries. Open your analytics, find the five pages that lead to contact forms or WhatsApp clicks and protect them first.
- Domain and accounts. Keep the domain, hosting and analytics under your own login.
On Silver Star Auto, Tribal House modernised and re-structured the online presence of a Mercedes-Benz, Peugeot and Citroen distributor into a lifestyle and conversion-focused site. Each page carries model imagery, videos, brochures, specifications and a quick enquiry form. Read the Silver Star Auto project.
On Akka Kappa, a real estate agency, we rebranded the existing website to capture leads and built a custom connector to the Propertybase API, so property pages draw listings, galleries and downloads from the CRM. See the Akka Kappa project.
What is the redirect and SEO checklist for a website redesign?
The checklist starts with a list of old URLs and ends with a monitored launch. Google's site move guide calls for a mapping of old to new URLs, server-side permanent redirects to the matching page, no long chains and redirects kept for at least a year.
- List each old URL. Pull them from sitemaps, server logs, analytics, Search Console and the CMS. Include images, videos, JavaScript and CSS files.
- Map old to new. Pair each old URL with its closest new page. Content you retire should return a 404 or 410 response.
- Update the new pages. Give each new URL a self-referencing canonical tag and change internal links to the new addresses.
- Set permanent redirects. Google recommends server-side 301 or 308 redirects. Do not send many old URLs to the homepage or another irrelevant page.
- Avoid chains. Point each old URL straight at its final destination. If you cannot, Google puts the target at no more than three hops and the limit below five.
- Hide the test site, then open it. Keep a noindex tag on the staging copy. At launch, remove noindex tags and robots.txt blocks.
- Test before and after. Check redirects with the URL Inspection Tool in Search Console and submit the new sitemap.
- Keep redirects for a year or more. Google advises at least one year, and longer if users still arrive by the old addresses.
- Monitor. Watch sitemap indexing, the Index Coverage report and server logs. Traffic should fall on the old addresses and rise on the new ones.
Google adds that the transition can take a few weeks or more for a medium-sized site, so expect movement in your rankings after launch. Submit a Change of Address in Search Console only when the domain or subdomain changes, not for a move from HTTP to HTTPS or from www to non-www.
How long does a website redesign take?
A website redesign takes one to two weeks for a light refresh and up to eight weeks for a full replatform, going by Kolonell's published timelines. EnspireFX gives one to two weeks for a basic redesign and four to six weeks for complex projects. Tribal House brand and website projects ship in four to eight weeks.
Content decisions add time on a redesign. Someone has to decide which existing pages stay, move or go before the design is final. Our timeline guide lists the stages and the delay causes in detail.
What does Tribal House charge for a website redesign?
Tribal House project sprints start at US$2,500 for one defined outcome, such as a landing page or a launch cleanup. Brand and website engagements start at US$6,000, and retainers start at US$1,500 per month. Ghana-based clients receive a cedi quote after a 30-minute discovery call.
We invoice in three stages: 40% at kickoff, 40% during production and 20% at final delivery. Each launch includes Loom walkthroughs, a CMS guide, a launch checklist and a 30 to 60 day support window in which we fix bugs at no extra cost. Frequently asked questions
- How do I know my website needs a redesign?
- Look for failing Core Web Vitals on phones, a CMS your team cannot edit, low enquiries despite steady traffic, confusing navigation or a rebrand the site does not reflect. A dated look on a working site calls for a refresh instead.
- Will a redesign hurt my Google rankings?
- It can if addresses change without redirects. Google says to map old URLs to new ones, use server-side 301 redirects and expect the transition to take a few weeks or more for a medium-sized site. Kolonell warns that poor migration can cost months of visibility.
- How long should I keep 301 redirects?
- Google advises keeping redirects for at least one year. If visitors or other sites still use the old addresses after that, consider keeping them in place for longer.
- What is the difference between a refresh and a redesign?
- Webpop Design defines a refresh as a lighter update to the look and copy that keeps the platform, structure and URLs. A redesign is a deeper change to layouts, navigation, content hierarchy and conversion paths.
- How much does a website redesign cost in Accra?
- EnspireFX lists starting prices from ₵3,500 to ₵6,500 by site size. Kolonell lists GHS 6,000 to GHS 45,000 for e-commerce redesigns, from a light refresh to a full replatform. Scope, migration and payment integration move the price.
- Do I need to tell Google about a redesign?
- Not by default. Google says to submit a Change of Address in Search Console only when the domain or subdomain changes. For other changes, keep the sitemap current, test the redirects and watch the Index Coverage report.
- What are the Core Web Vitals thresholds?
- web.dev rates a page good at 2.5 seconds or less for Largest Contentful Paint, 200 milliseconds or less for Interaction to Next Paint and 0.1 or less for Cumulative Layout Shift, measured at the 75th percentile of page loads.
