Published prices for a mobile app in Ghana start near GHS 10,000 and run past GHS 900,000. BuiltFound lists mobile app and web development from GH¢ 10,000, Doctor Barns Tech lists an iOS and Android app from GHS 15,000, and Algosoft publishes four tiers that end above GHS 2,300,000. A gap that wide means the quotes describe different products.

What is the typical mobile app development cost in Ghana?

Mobile app development cost in Ghana starts at GHS 10,000 to 15,000 in published floors, and fuller builds cost several times more. BuiltFound lists GH¢ 10,000, Doctor Barns Tech lists GHS 15,000 for iOS and Android, and Algosoft prices a basic MVP at GHS 46,500 to 124,000. Compliance work pushes the top tiers far higher.

Dev Technosys contradicts itself. Its headline puts app development in Ghana at USD 8,000 to more than USD 25,000, yet its table lists GHS 5,000 to 20,000. Its FAQ gives developer rates of GHC 165 to 275 an hour against GHS 15 to 25 in the table. Read its cedi table with caution.

Algosoft's lowest tier costs about three times Doctor Barns Tech's floor. Algosoft's tier lists authentication, a backend and an Android-first interface, so ask each studio what its figure includes before you compare.

What drives the cost of a mobile app?

Six things move the price: the platforms you target, the backend behind the screens, mobile money and other integrations, the depth of the design, the admin tools your team needs and the compliance work. Dev Technosys names features, platform, design complexity, integrations and testing as its cost factors. Algosoft puts a number on mobile money.

Algosoft gives two ranges for full multi-wallet mobile money: GHS 48,000 to 96,000 in its FAQ and GHS 32,000 to 96,000 in its cost section. Ask for each driver as a separate line. A quote that reads "mobile app, GHS 40,000" hides the choices you could change.

Should you build for Android, iOS or both?

Check your own customers' phones first. Statcounter shows Android on 70.84% and iOS on 29.12% of mobile traffic in Ghana for September 2026, so an app for Android alone speaks to about seven in ten of that traffic. Cross-platform frameworks build both platforms from one codebase, and native tools build one platform at a time.

Algosoft states that Android holds 88 to 92 percent of Ghana's smartphone market and cites no source. Statcounter's measured figure is lower. Trust data you can check, and compare it with the analytics from your own website.

What do Google Play and the App Store charge developers?

Google Play charges a one-time US$25 registration fee, and the Apple Developer Program costs US$99 per membership year. New Google personal accounts must run a closed test with at least 12 testers for 14 days before production access. Apple reviews at least 50% of submissions in under 24 hours and 90% in under 48 hours.

Apple says more than 40 percent of unresolved review issues relate to guideline 2.1, app completeness: crashes, placeholder content and incomplete information. Budget test time for that reason. Register both developer accounts in your own business name and add the studio as a team member, so you can move the app to another provider.

How much does it cost to maintain a mobile app?

Budget 15 to 25 percent of the build price each year. Algosoft gives 15 to 25 percent in one section and 15 to 20 percent in another, and Dev Technosys gives 15 to 25 percent. Add US$99 a year for the Apple membership. Maintenance covers fixes for new phone software, bug reports, hosting and store updates.

• Choose a mobile site or PWA when your customers search on Google, you update content often, and the main actions are reading, booking or paying through a link.
• Choose a store app when you need background features, deeper phone hardware access, store visibility or a daily-use product such as a wallet or delivery tracker.
• Check the browser mix. web.dev says installation depends on the browser: Safari for macOS does not support installability, and results on Android vary by browser and device.

Published prices anchor some stages, such as GHS 5,000 to 7,000 for UI and UX design at Dev Technosys and GHS 16,000 to 32,000 for one mobile money wallet at Algosoft. Ask your studio to price each stage.

How do you get an accurate mobile app quote?

Write a one-page brief, send it to three studios and compare scope before price. A useful brief names the users, the five most important screens, the platforms, the payment methods and the launch date. Studios that read the brief ask questions. Studios that reply with a number alone have not read it.

1. State the goal in one sentence, such as "let clients book and pay for a visit".
2. List the screens and actions each user needs, and mark what can wait for version two.
