Ghanaian agencies quote anywhere from GHS 800 to GHS 50,000 for a website. BuiltFound publishes that range in its 2026 price guide, and Ghana Web Designs, Think Expand and Deladem Designs publish ranges inside it. A tenfold gap makes budgeting hard, because few quotes say what sits behind the number.

Tribal House is a brand and web design studio in Accra. The ranges below come from Ghanaian agencies' own 2026 price pages. Our prices sit at the end, where you can hold them against the rest.

What is the typical website cost in Ghana?

Most Ghanaian businesses pay between GHS 1,000 and GHS 10,000 for a website in 2026. A landing page costs GHS 800 to GHS 2,500. A small business site costs GHS 1,500 to GHS 7,000. An online shop costs GHS 2,000 to GHS 15,000 or more. Custom platforms start near GHS 5,000 and pass GHS 50,000.

The published tiers overlap. Ghana Web Designs lists a basic site at GHS 1,000 to 1,500 in its table and GHS 1,500 to 2,000 in its text. Read each range as a guide, and ask for a written scope before you compare two quotes.

What does each price tier include?

Landing page or brochure site: GHS 800 to 2,500

A landing page tells visitors who you are, what you sell and how to reach you. Expect one to five pages, a layout that works on phones, a contact form and a WhatsApp or phone button. Many agencies build these from a template and swap in your logo, colours and copy.

This tier suits a new business, or one that has traded through Instagram and word of mouth and needs a page to send people to. It holds your address, prices and proof of work. It gives you no content system and little room to grow.

Small business site: GHS 1,500 to 7,000

A small business site adds more pages and a content management system (CMS), so your staff edit text and photos without calling a developer. Most packages include analytics, a contact form, a map and a link to your Google Business Profile. Deladem Designs puts a professional site with hosting and support at GHS 3,000 to 7,000.

Choose this tier if you sell services, run a clinic, a school or a restaurant, or want a blog that brings in search traffic. Budget for copywriting and photography. Agencies that quote the low end often expect you to supply both.

Online shop: GHS 2,000 to 15,000 or more

An online shop needs a product catalogue, a cart, order management and payment gateways that handle mobile money and cards. Delivery rules, stock tracking and discount codes each add work. BuiltFound's estimator adds GH¢ 600 for 40 to 100 products and GH¢ 3,000 for more than 200.

Payment integration takes time to test. Ask which gateway the agency has launched before, and ask to see a live shop they built with it.

Custom platform: GHS 5,000 to 50,000 or more

Booking systems, member portals, school and church management tools and donation platforms belong here. BuiltFound's estimates include about GH¢ 5,000 for a school management system, GH¢ 10,000 for an NGO donation portal and GH¢ 12,000 for a real estate management system. The number of user roles, integrations and reports sets the price.

What does a website cost after the design is finished?

Design is a one-time payment. Domain, hosting, SSL and upkeep recur. BuiltFound publishes yearly and monthly figures for each.

ItemTypical cost (GHS)How often
.com domain170 to 190Per year
.com.gh domain400 to 800Per year
Basic hosting200 to 500Per year
Premium or e-commerce hosting1,500 to 2,500Per year
SSL certificate150 to 800Per year
Basic maintenance200 to 500Per month
Standard support500 to 1,000Per month
Premium support1,000 to 1,500Per month

At those rates, a .com domain, basic hosting and an SSL certificate cost GHS 520 to GHS 1,490 in the first year. Many hosts include SSL at no charge, so ask before you pay for it.

Ask who holds the accounts. Register the domain and hosting in your own name and add the agency as a user. If the agency holds them, you cannot move the site without its permission.

What does a first-year budget look like for a small business site?

A ten-page business site built to the middle of the published range, with basic hosting and monthly care, costs GHS 5,920 to GHS 14,490 in the first year. The table adds BuiltFound's ranges for each line.

LineLow (GHS)High (GHS)
Design and build, small business site3,0007,000
Domain, basic hosting and SSL, year one5201,490
Basic maintenance, 12 months2,4006,000
First-year total5,92014,490

The totals are our arithmetic on BuiltFound's published ranges. Maintenance is optional if your own team edits the site and applies updates. Without it, year one costs GHS 3,520 to GHS 8,490. BuiltFound's estimator shows basic hosting free in the first year and GH¢ 200 a year after, so year two costs more than the first-year line suggests.

Which hidden costs catch Ghanaian business owners out?

  • Copywriting and photography. Many quotes assume you supply both. Professional photos and written pages can add as much as the build.
  • Business email. A domain does not include inboxes. Price them per user, per month.
  • Licences. Premium themes, plugins and fonts renew each year.
  • Payment gateway fees. Gateways charge a percentage of each sale on top of the build. Check the current rate with the provider.
  • Renewals. Domains, hosting and SSL renew each year, often at a higher rate than the first-year offer.
  • Extra revision rounds. A quote that fixes the number of rounds protects you from a surprise bill.

Fixed price, hourly or monthly: which pricing model suits you?

  • Fixed price suits a defined scope. You know the total before work starts, and the agency carries the risk of overruns. Changes need a written change order.
  • Hourly billing suits work that changes as it goes, such as a product still finding its shape. You pay for time spent, so ask for a weekly cap and a report.
  • Monthly retainer suits a site that keeps growing. You buy a block of design and development time each month. Tribal House retainers start at US$1,500 per month.

Ask each provider for a fixed price on the defined parts of your project and an hourly or monthly rate for the open-ended parts.

How can you lower the cost without lowering the quality?

  • Launch the pages that earn money first. Add the blog, the careers page and the extra service pages in phase two.
  • Supply your own copy and photos. Content work is the easiest line to move to your side of the table.
  • Use a template where brand matters least. Legal pages, FAQs and contact pages need little custom design.
  • Phase the features. Launch with a contact form and add booking, memberships or shop features once the site earns revenue.
  • Keep the accounts in your name. You avoid transfer fees and lock-in if you change provider.

Why do two quotes for the same website differ by ten times?

Scope explains most of the gap. Six factors move the number:

  1. Pages and features. Five pages with a contact form cost less than fifty pages with search, booking and a member login.
  2. Custom design or template. A template reuses a finished layout. Custom design starts from your brand and takes a designer's hours.
  3. Content. Someone writes the copy, edits the photos and loads the pages. Check whether the quote covers any of it.
  4. Integrations. Payment gateways, booking tools, CRM systems and WhatsApp each need setup and testing.
  5. Speed and search work. A fast, well-structured site takes more build time than a slow one. Ask for mobile speed scores before launch.
  6. Handover and support. Training, documentation and a support window take hours that cheap quotes leave out.

Freelancer, local agency or studio: who should you hire?

BuiltFound puts solo freelancers at GH¢ 1,000 to 4,000 and web design agencies at GH¢ 5,000 to 50,000 or more. Both can do good work. The difference shows when the person you hired is unavailable.

Our guide to choosing a web design company in Accra lists twelve questions that apply to all three.

What should a Ghanaian business budget at each stage?

  • Starting out: a landing page at GHS 800 to 2,500, plus GHS 520 to 1,490 a year for domain, hosting and SSL.
  • Growing: a small business site at GHS 3,000 to 7,000 with a CMS, analytics and basic search setup, plus GHS 200 to 500 a month for care.
  • Established: a corporate or custom site from GHS 6,000, with a written support agreement and a plan for quarterly updates.

A consistent brand costs less to build a site around. See what brand identity design costs in Ghana before you brief a web designer.

How does mobile use change what you should pay for?

Ghana had 24.3 million internet users in January 2025, 69.9% of the population, and 38.3 million mobile connections, equal to 110% of the population (DataReportal). Most of your visitors reach you on a phone.

Google measures page experience with three Core Web Vitals, scored at the 75th percentile of visits (web.dev). A good page loads its main content in 2.5 seconds or less (Largest Contentful Paint). It responds to taps in 200 milliseconds or less (Interaction to Next Paint). It keeps layout shift at 0.1 or less (Cumulative Layout Shift). Ask any agency to show you those three numbers for a site they built, tested on a phone.

Fast sites take planning: compressed images, restrained scripts and a stable layout. That planning is part of the price gap between a template and a built site.

How do you get an accurate website quote in Ghana?

  1. Write one sentence on the goal of the site, such as "take bookings" or "sell to retailers".
  2. List the pages you need and the features each page requires.
  3. Say who supplies the copy, the photos and the logo.
  4. Name the systems the site must connect to: payments, booking, email and WhatsApp.
  5. Set a launch date and the reason for it.
  6. Ask for a written scope with a fixed price, a payment schedule and a list of what you receive at handover.

Send the same brief to three providers. Compare scope first and price second.
