How long does it take to build a website in Ghana?

By Tribal House Published Last updated 8 min read

The short answer

Expect one to three weeks for a simple site and four to twelve weeks or more for a shop or custom platform. That is how long to build a website in Ghana, going by the timelines Ghanaian agencies publish. Tribal House brand and website projects ship in four to eight weeks. Late content and slow feedback add the delay.

Most owners ask for a launch date before they ask for a price. Ghanaian agencies publish build times from seven working days to twelve weeks or more, and scope, content and approvals explain the gap between the two ends.

Tribal House is a brand and web design studio in Accra. This guide takes build times from Ghanaian agency pages, the BuiltFound estimator and two global guides, then adds our own range for brand and website projects. The text says so where a source covers another market.

How long to build a website in Ghana for each type of site?

A simple site takes one to three weeks, according to Ghana Web Designs and Think Expand. Ghana Web Designs puts e-commerce platforms and custom web applications at four to twelve weeks or more. BuiltFound sets a standard timeline at three to six weeks. Tribal House brand and website projects ship in four to eight weeks.

Custom platform4 to 12 weeks or more. Tenet lists membership sites at 6 to 12 weeks, booking sites at 8 to 12 weeks and web apps at 4 to 6 months or more.Ghana Web Designs, Tenet

The figures disagree because agencies count different things. Ghana Web Designs says its estimate covers design, development, testing and revisions. Treat each range as a guide, and ask for dates in writing before you sign.

What does the BuiltFound estimator say about speed?

BuiltFound's cost estimator treats a delivery under two weeks as a rush job and adds GH₵600 to the price. A standard timeline of three to six weeks sits in the base price. A flexible timeline of six weeks or more earns a GH₵200 discount.

The three options put a price on time. A short deadline pushes other work aside, and a long one lets the agency schedule around it. If a fixed date does not change your sales, the flexible option saves money.

How long does each stage of a website project take?

A website passes through six stages: brief, content, design, build, review and launch. Published durations exist for some stages and not for others. GoDaddy puts research and planning at up to two weeks and review at a few days to a week. Tribal House fits the full sequence into four to eight weeks.

GoDaddy's figures describe a designer-led build from scratch for a global audience, so a template-based small site moves faster at each stage. The stage durations add up to more than Tribal House's four to eight weeks because stages overlap: content arrives while design runs, and each revision round has a deadline.

Time and price move together. Our guide to website cost in Ghana shows what each type of site costs, and the questions in how to choose a web design company in Accra include how to ask for a written schedule.

What delays a website project in Ghana?

Agency guides name the same causes again and again: late content, slow feedback and third-party integrations. Tenet lists content readiness, client decisions and integrations among the factors. GoDaddy adds changes during development and bugs found at review.

  • Late content. Tenet lists text, images or product data that arrive late. Think Expand names content submitted on time as a condition of fast delivery.
  • Feedback loops. Tenet names slow or unclear approvals as a source of long pauses. Name one approver per round so comments arrive in one voice.
  • Integrations. Tenet lists payment systems, APIs and external tools, each needing setup and testing. Kolonell, an agency that publishes Accra redesign prices, says a tested Paystack checkout adds one to two weeks.
  • Changes during the build. GoDaddy says tweaks to appearance or features during development extend the timeline.
  • Bugs found at review. GoDaddy notes that bugs, missing features and typos found at review need fixes before launch.
  • Product entry and payment approval. Tenet singles these out for e-commerce sites.

How can you speed up a website build in Ghana?

Send finished content before design starts, name one approver and cut the first launch to the pages that earn money. GoDaddy suggests launching a smaller site first and expanding it later. Tenet ties delays on landing pages to copy edits and unclear messaging.

  1. Write the brief on one page: the goal, the pages, the features and who supplies copy and photos.
  2. Gather logo files, photographs and copy before kickoff.
  3. Name one person who approves each round, and have all other reviewers send comments to that person.
  4. Agree the number of review rounds and a reply deadline for each. Tribal House gives each revision round a deadline and collects comments in one place.
  5. Launch the pages that earn money first and add the blog, careers page and extra services in phase two.
  6. Hold back features you can add later, such as booking or memberships.
  7. Open the domain, hosting and payment gateway accounts in week one, because gateway approval runs on the provider's schedule.

What should a written website schedule list?

A written schedule lists a date for each stage and names who owes what by that date. It turns a vague promise of three weeks into dates you can check. Ask for one before you pay a deposit, and keep a copy with the signed scope.

  • Start date. Full projects at Tribal House book out two to four weeks ahead, so the date work starts differs from the date you pay.
  • Content due date. The day your copy, photos and logo files reach the agency.
  • Review windows. The number of rounds, the days each lasts and the cost of an extra round. Tribal House handles scope changes through a written change order that you approve first.
  • Launch date and its dependencies. Payment gateway approval, domain access and any third-party accounts.
  • Support window. The days after launch in which the agency fixes bugs at no charge.

A schedule with those five lines lets you see a slip early. If your content is three days late, the launch date moves by about that much, and the document says so.

Is a rush website build worth paying for?

A rush build pays off when a fixed date earns or saves money, such as a campaign, a product launch or a trade fair. BuiltFound adds GH₵600 to a project due in under two weeks. Rushing shortens the review stage, and GoDaddy places bug fixes and typo checks there.

Booking time counts too. Tribal House sprints can start within a week if there is capacity, and full projects book out two to four weeks ahead. Add that wait to your calendar before you set a launch date.

What should a launch-week checklist include?

A launch-week checklist covers staging blocks, redirects, forms, payments, analytics and phone speed. Google's site move guide tells owners to remove noindex tags and robots.txt blocks from the new site and to test with the URL Inspection Tool in Search Console.

  • Staging blocks off. Remove noindex tags and robots.txt blocks that kept the test site out of search.
  • Redirects on. If any address changes, send each old URL to its new page with a server-side 301 redirect, as Google advises. Our guide to website redesign in Accra covers the full list.
  • Forms and payments. Submit each form, place a test order and confirm that the confirmation email reaches an inbox.
  • Phone speed. web.dev sets the good thresholds at 2.5 seconds or less for Largest Contentful Paint, 200 milliseconds or less for Interaction to Next Paint and 0.1 or less for Cumulative Layout Shift, scored at the 75th percentile.
  • Analytics and sitemap. Confirm tracking fires and submit the sitemap in Search Console.
  • Accounts in your name. Keep the domain, hosting and analytics under your own login and add the agency as a user.
  • Support window. Ask how long the agency fixes bugs at no charge. Tribal House fixes bugs found in its 30 to 60 day window at no extra cost.
